All the things I will tell them

My dear Grandad, I'm so sad that I couldn't see you this year.. I can't believe my baby Lenny won't be able to meet his great grandad.. We will make sure he will get to know you eventhough you won't physically be here anymore, by showing him all the lovely photos of you, and telling him all the memories shared  with you.

I'll tell him how patient, calm and thoughtful you were. I never heard you shouting. I remember thinking I wish my dad would have been calm like you..

I'll tell him how much you loved nature. You always thought about all your visitors (birds, squirrels, badgers, etc) by putting some nuts and grains out for them, even when it was pouring with rain, I'll always remember you going out with your raincoat and boots to make sure there was enough to eat for them. Your beautiful garden in Bridport too, you would always take care of it. You knew the name of all the birds, all the different plants.. you were so wise.

I'll tell him how much you loved reading. All these books you had, the newspaper you would buy every day, even when you came to see us in France.

I'll tell him how much you loved walking too, these long walks you used to do to West bay, and you loved walking into town to buy the paper.

I'll tell him you loved eating the pain aux raisins when you came to France.

I'll tell him that you were such a good listener.. and how much you enjoyed talking too, especially about your family. Showing us photos, telling us about how life was when you were young.

I'll tell him how much you loved making us laugh when we were younger.. I remember your funny faces and noises that could make us laugh so much..

And so many other happy memories my dear Grandad I could go on and on, and I will make sure my children hear all of them, because you have been a very important person in my life and you will always be in my heart.

I miss you Grandad.

With love from Jess
